Sanjiv Ravi is a Melbourne-based actor and theatre-maker working across embodied, impulse-led performance.

His practice is grounded in physical, vocal, and improvisational training, with a strong focus on presence, responsiveness, and play. Sanjiv is drawn to approaches that prioritise listening, sensation, and genuine human connection over fixed interpretation, and that support performers in generating their own work rather than relying solely on external direction.

He has trained extensively in long-form improvisation, physical comedy, and scene work, alongside foundational acting, voice, and movement practices. His ongoing training includes work influenced by Meisner-based repetition, physical theatre, devised performance, and autonomous actor methodologies. Recent study with Lindy Davies’ The Autonomous Artist has further shaped his interest in impulse-led text work and embodied authorship.

Sanjiv’s performance experience spans comedy, improv, and live theatre, including ensemble and sketch work with Space on Earth and The Improv Conspiracy. Alongside performing, he is interested in creating original work that sits between devised theatre, comedy, and embodied performance.

Through continued intercultural and physical training, Sanjiv aims to deepen his autonomous practice and develop self-generated theatre that is grounded, immediate, and alive.
